It is probably the best home improvement we’ve made (yes, including the heat pump system!). At the time we had three dogs, the largest of which was ninety pounds. It did take a little while for the dogs to get comfortable with it, particularly the thirteen-pounder, but soon they were going in and out very happily. When we adopted another dog, she took to it immediately.

Our big guy stopped asking to go in and out repeatedly: it turned out he wanted to be able to peek inside occasionally while sunbathing and the door allowed him to. We could finally stop diapering the Chiweenie because she could trot out whenever the mood was on her.

Our energy bills did not go up at all, even though we’re in central NYS. Now, ten years later, the door is just as good as it was the first day. The only thing we’d replace it for would be one of the newer ones, should this one ever break. If it did so later today, I would still feel I had gotten my money’s worth out of it. It is one of the few products I have ever bought that didn’t even have one significant con to put in the review, and one of the few products I’ve used in the past decade that had anything like a decent lifetime.
